There is, apparently, a body of people who are going to buy iPads when it sports a USB port. A similar group want it to support flash and will do the same when Apple ‘see the light’
Both USB and Flash are solutions for problems. I want to work on a my CV on another device / computer.
Solution:
Source: I’m going to physically plug my USB stick into a computer, navigate to the correct folder or file and then drag it on to my stick. Destination: I’m now going to physically transport myself and the stick to my desired destination. I stick the USB stick into the computer, navigate to my desired location and drag the file or folder on to the destination.
Here’s another solution, I sit at my source computer.
Sync with cloud…..
I then move to my desired location
Sync with cloud.
Both source and destination contain the same file.
I’m not in the lobby of people who hate Flash, it was once a solution that allowed so called rich content to appear on the Internet.
HTML 5 arrives and flash faces a tougher time to compete.
Move on.
Point 2 is that you may not even have to care where the file is but what the file is. In fact forget the word file. Call it what it is, photo, CV, a song or a video. Your device, wether it be an iPad or a computer will know how you want to deal with it. iPhoto, iMovie or iTunes.
Best fit solutions will always challenge the status quo. Flash and USB may once have been best fit but those days passed.
Move on- it’s evolution.
Revolution.
